About Dunkeswell Memorial Museum

The founding members of the Dunkeswell Memorial Museum, David Sharland, Darren Lillywhite and Rupert Fairclough met in the early 1980's. All shared a common interest in the wartime airfield at Dunkeswell.

Most weekends were spent on the airfield searching for relics from the war. As the collection grew displays were organised, all of which created great public interest.

The founding members then decided to establish a museum to house the collection. In August 1995 an official committee was formed, shortly after this charity status was gained and a building was purchased.
